Meet Dr. Douglas Wirth & Dr. Derek Wirth

Dr. Douglas Wirth attended Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia for his undergraduate studies. He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, earning his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree in 1979. Following graduation, he spent three years on active duty in the US Navy as a general dentist and was stationed at the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island.

Dr. Wirth has continued to advance his training in dentistry by completing extended education programs in endodontics, oral implantology, smile design, cosmetic dentistry, and CEREC® crown technology. He regularly attends classes to remain at the top of his profession and feels it is essential to enhancing his patient care.

Outside the Office

Dr. Wirth grew up in southeastern Ohio along the upper Ohio River Valley and resides in Oak Harbor, WA, with his wife. He lives on a farm and enjoys raising Angus beef cattle. Dr. Wirth loves being outdoors and can most often be found amongst his cattle, or in a tractor in the hay fields. He is also an active member of his community and is involved in dental support groups.

Dr. Derek Wirth graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Microbiology in 2008. He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, in Boston, MA, earning his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree in 2013. Dr. Wirth returned to his home community of Oak Harbor, to join Whidbey Dental Associates. He continues with post-graduate educational courses to provide his patients with the latest research, technology and advancements in dentistry to best serve their oral health needs.

Outside the Office

Dr. Wirth lives in Oak Harbor with his wife and daughter, and their golden retriever. He enjoys being outdoors and is especially active in running and camping. While living in Boston, he ran the Boston Marathon; he currently enjoys participating in community events here on Whidbey.
